We're happy to announce the first ever
LGS Guitar Ensemble Invitational & Concert!
​
We are honored to be hosting the Piedmont Guitar Orchestra, under the direction of Kami Rowan,
for an amazing collaboration with the Louisville Guitar Orchestra, directed by Kayla Hibbs, for a concert at our Guitar Ensemble Invitational this April.
We want you to be a part of this concert too!

Join us for a day full of activities centered around guitar ensembles and play in the concert
with these wonderful ensembles!
​
Open to solo players & guitar ensembles of all sizes!
​
Bring a school group, a small chamber group, or bring yourself, and join us for workshops, coachings, and an En Masse Guitar Orchestra piece.

Morning Session
The first session of the day will include ensemble coachings with our phenomenal guest artists and workshops.
​
Sign your group to receive a half hour coaching with one of our guest artists and get instruction on the piece of your choice.
All ensembles that sign up for coachings will be offered 5 minutes of play time during the concert at the end of the day.
​
Lunch
Ensembles signed up for the full day are invited to join us for a provided lunch and meet-and-greet between the sessions. Come meet other guitarists and ensembles from the area!
Evening Session
The evening session will include a rehearsal for the En Masse Guitar Orchestra piece, conducted by Kami Rowan, time for individual ensemble rehearsal, and the culminating concert.

This concert will feature the special collaboration between the Louisville and Piedmont Guitar orchestras, a piece performed the En Masse Guitar Orchestra with 60+ players, and performances by guitar ensembles from local high schools and colleges.

Workshops (Free & Open to the Public)
10:00 am: Beginning/Intermediate Technique - Kayla Hibbs
Join Kayla Hibbs in tackling the often confusing realm of beginning and intermediate classical guitar technique. Leave with solutions for the practice room for years to come.
10:30 am: Fun with 4 - Tim Blunk
Join Tim Blunk in pairing every combination of all four left and right hand fingers together in a series of simple yet highly effective exercises and one easy to read handout.
11:00 am: Musical Aerobics - Xavier Jara
Do you want dazzling dynamics, toasty tone, and phat phrasing? Try Xavi’s musical aerobics for exercises in shaping technical realities with musical rhetoric.
*All workshops will be free and open to public! Feel free to come participate, no registration required.
