American classical guitarist, Xavier Jara (1993), is the 1st prizewinner of the 2016 GFA International Concert Artist Competition.  A native of Minnesota, Jara was a student of Alan Johnston at the MacPhail Center for Music in Minneapolis until 2011 when he moved to Paris, France to study with Judicael Perroy.  

 

Jara studied in Paris for six years with Perroy.  During this time he completed his Bachelor's Degree at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris where he also studied with French guitarist, Olivier Chassain, and lute master, Eric Bellocq.  He received 1st place in a number of international competitions including the Boston Guitarfest (2014), the Gargnano, Italy Competition (2015) and the Tokyo International Competition (2016).  In 2016, Jara returned home to the United States to win the Guitar Foundation of America's Rose Augustine Grand Prize.

Jeremy Collins

Jeremy Collins is an award-winning classical guitarist and composer from Cincinnati, Ohio. 

 

In addition to being a finalist and prizewinner in the 2011 Guitar Foundation of America International Guitar Competition, he has received first prizes at the "Classical Minds" Festival Guitar Competition; the Appalachian State Guitar Fest Solo Competition; the East Carolina University Solo Guitar Competition; the Rantucci Guitar Competition; the Dominguez Hills Solo Competition; the ASTA "Aaron Green" Guitar Competition; the Columbus State University Guitar Symposium Competition; and the University of Louisville Guitar Competition. 

 

Since his invitation to perform on NPR's "From the Top" national radio program in Cincinnati at the age of 16, he has performed solo and chamber recitals extensively throughout the US, including performances with the Blue-Ash Montgomery Symphony, the Starling Chamber Orchestra, the Masterworks Festival Orchestra, the Cleveland Institute of Music Opera Dept., and the Cincinnati Vocal Arts Ensemble.

Nemanja Ostojić has so far performed in 19 countries on four continents. As a soloist, he has performed with Bilkent Symphony Orchestra (Ankara, Turkey), Buffalo Philharmonic, Athens Chamber Orchestra, Belgrade Philharmonic, Saint George Strings and Allentown Symphony, collaborating with conductors like Petar Ivanovic, Bujor Hoinic, Dianne Wittry, JoAnn Falletta and Leo Brouwer. 

 

A masterful and musical player, Nemanja has been the gold medalist or the top prizewinner in more than fifteen major international guitar competitions around the world. The list includes: Niccolo Paganini (Parma, Italy), Sinaya Guitar Competition (Sinaya, Romania), Volos Guitar Festival (Greece), Guitar Competition Anna Amalia (Weimar, Germany), Texas Guitar Competition (Dallas, TX), Schadt String Competition (Allentown, PA), South West Guitar Festival & International Competition (San Antonio, TX), Boston Guitar Fest, JoAnn Falleta International Guitar Concerto Competition (Buffalo, NY), etc.

Radoš Malidžan is a prominent Montenegrin classical guitarist. He started his music education when he was ten, played his first recital already at the age of 12, giving since then numerous classical guitar concerts in Montenegro, as well as throughout Europe, and performed and recorded for major national broadcasting networks such as RTV Montenegro, RTV Serbia, and other – RTV Vijesti, RTV Atlas, RTV Elmag.

His recent performances include concerts given at the most prestigious music festivals in Montenegro, such as A Tempo Festival, December Culture Days, Guitar Summer Fest, Podgorica Culture Summer, Bar Guitar Fest, Herceg Novi – Music Days Festival, as well as concerts at concert series and international festivals in Norway (Oslo, Bergen, Kristiansand, Sarpsborg – Gitarkonsertserien), Romania (Terra Siculorum Festival), Serbia (Guitar Art Festival), Germany, Bosnia, Denmark.
